1947
An idea of genius
1500 roosters were saved by the Benny family. They decided to raise them and acquired their first breeding farm near Joliette.
1959
The Foundation
Benny et Frères Ltée is founded. Eight brothers unite!
1960
The dream comes true
The Benny brothers open their very first rotisserie in Joliette.
1965
Verdun
Au Coq is moving into the greater Montreal area, with its very first location in Verdun.
1967
The family is growing
Montreal blooms with Expo 67. Au Coq continues its expansion with the opening of its 2nd branch in Rosemont.
1971
Le Gaulois
Located on Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal, Au Coq made its first appearance in the heart of the metropolis. Au Coq Gaulois was relocated to Hochelaga in 1973.
1975
The family succession
From Sainte-Foy to Longueuil, the three children continue to manage the business and pursue the dream of their father, Gérard.
1978
Saint-Hubert
The family grows on the South Shore of Montreal. Concerned about expansion, another branch opens on Grande Allée.
1982
Benny BBQ
The Benny BBQ banner changes its name to Les Rôtisseries Benny.
1984
Acquisition of Pont Viau BBQ
Rénald Benny acquires the popular Pont Viau BBQ.
1985
The new one on the Chemin de Chambly in Longueuil is born.
2012
3 newcomers
The expansion continues, with three new locations opening in Beloeil, Boucherville and La Prairie.
Today
The family reunites
The rotisseries Au coq and Benny come together. A proud Quebec tradition still continues.
